Movement & Mindfulness Camps

Happy Mindful People’s Kids Movement & Mindfulness program went beyond my expectations (and they were already high). I am still amazed at how regulated and centered my daughter was after each class and how she would/could use the language and stories to explain things to me. (ie When the juice got spilled and I was upset she asked if this was a big or small problem.)
I recommend the camp or class series for all children! Regardless of whether your child is going through any level of trauma/challenge or if they are just needing to learn basic coping and calming skills you won’t be disappointed.

This camp is designed for elementary-school-age kids (ages 5-11).  Through movement, mindfulness and social skills, children and teens are introduced to a social emotional curriculum that inspires personal and social change.  We incorporate strategies for emotional regulation, deep breathing techniques, movement intended to invigorate and calm the body, and activities that will nourish the soul. 

Through modeling, group discussion, nature exploration, & collaborative learning participants practice how to successfully interact  with grown-ups and peers, what grown-ups and peers expect from them under different circumstances, how to deal with peer-to-peer teasing and conflict, how to be a good friend and sibling, how to regulate emotions under a variety of pressures, and why all of this is important to their happiness and success in life. 

Our hope and intention is to effectively foster an educational/creative environment that is safe, welcoming, and free from stigma and discrimination for all students, regardless of sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, ability, disability, religion, etc and to ensure that all students have the opportunity to express themselves creatively and live authentically without judgement.

What to expect:

  • Lots of movement and postures that both strengthen and calm the body.
  • Large and small group activities (divided by age)
  • Daily art projects 
  • Hula hoop & Sock poi instruction and play
  • Music activities including: Tibetan song bowls, instrument exploration, harmonium, chimes and singing
  • Daily Nature exploration
  • Guided Relaxation
  • Daily mindfulness and concentration activities
  • Strategies for deep breathing and relaxation
  • Cooperative Learning Games based around learning empathy & practicing kindness 

 Your child's tool box will be filled  with strategies for self regulation and self calm. 

My son has come home from camp every day cheerful, relaxed and grounded. He talks enthusiastically about his experiences and practices skills he’s learned that day at home without prompting. I suspect the only thing my son will truly dislike about this camp, is that it is over.

REGISTRATION: Enrollment in our classes is limited and will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.  We accept cash, personal checks, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. The balance of the class is due prior to the start of classes.

REFUNDS: No refunds or credits of any payment will be made for notification of withdrawal within 15 days of the start of the class, once the class has started or for missed classes.  Prior to that time, we will refund your tuition. In the event of an emergency we do allow transfers to a future class offering.

CANCELLATIONS: We reserve the right to cancel a class if minimum enrollments are not met.  In which case, all tuition and fees will be fully refunded.  Notification of cancellation will be made by phone or email  at least one day prior to the start of the class at which time, students will be offered the option of another class, space permitting, or a full refund.

ACCEPTANCE/ WAITING LIST: When we receive your registration we will send confirmation and specific class information.  If the class is full, you will be notified that you have been placed on a waiting list.
